Javanese gamelan teaching resources

Take this link to a beautifully clear photo of the University of Wisconsin’s Central Javanese gamelan. Hold cursor over any instrument and it will bring up the instrument’s name. Click on any instrument and it will link you to close-up photos and instrument descriptions. Beyond the photo, the website as a whole is excellent. A very nice resource for teaching!

Welcome to Michael Bakan’s World Music Website!

Welcome to my website. Here you will find links and resources for my textbook, World Music: Traditions and Transformations, as well as PDFs of my publications on the ethnomusicology of autism, Balinese gamelan music, and other topics. The book is integrally linked to its Online Learning Center with McGraw-Hill: www.mhhe.com/bakan3e, where you will find a plethora of resources from Spotify Playlists and YouTube links to sample quizzes, research resources, and more. Thanks for visiting, and please friend me on Facebook, too! For information on book purchasing, rental, etc., click here!
